Burlesque Travel Blog : New Location, New Concept, New Friends!

It's been a couple months since we last had a #TravelBlog post from your fave #TravelingShowgirl and #Goddess. But no fret, I am back in the skies (in spite of some really really valid current fears surrounding said form of travel, but yeahhh) and eyes of all new audiences! After taking a month off to do some family traveling it so happened to work out that I'd get to extend my family time by booking a show down in their part of the woods.

This time around I found my way into a show like one I've never done before.

See, there's this wonderfully fantastic Producer by the name of Lady MeKaella Demure that runs Danger Dames Burlesque down in Jacksonville, FL. I reached out to them about this here show called Glass Rhinestone: A Nips Out Mystery. When I applied I didn't know the excat show details or concept that I was getting myself into. I just knew it said #Rhinestones and #NipsOUT. So I was IN at those words. Lo and behold, I Did in fact GET IN! Actually, the offer email made reference to my Costume and Act as "Mink & Mocha" and I completely fell in love with that and have rebranded/named it as such!! But get this y'all! That's when I found out it was a FLIPPIN MURDER MYSTERY SHOW!!! I was so damn pumped! I have never had the chance to participate in such a concept. It was most definitely inspirational for me and my Producer brain that's for sure. The ideal of audience immersion and participation is something I'm trying to cultivate with future shows I Produce so it was an honor to experience.

Can we take a bit though to also dote on the venue?

This event was held at the No Bird, Jacksonville FL. When I say this is the absolute perfect space for an intimate Floorstyle Burlesque/Cabaret Show. Uuuugggggghhh! Let's start with the fact that it's named from a Jane Eyre quote, that they were born of a mission to crate a space for creatives and independent thinkers to come together to create and collaborate. They offer Tea and the most plush cozy seating I've ever seen!! So fucking fabulous!!

I'm coming to learn more about myself and my performance style as I get to travel more and experience different performance spaces. And something I am learning for certain, I LOVE A FLOORSHOW AND INTERACTING WITH THE AUDIENCE! And this is something I thought I'd never actually say. As I began performing as a super introverted behind the camera don't talk or look at me sort of person. So I'd say I am for sure growing out here.

In regard to my travels getting there to the show, I'd say that this was one of the easier ones to get to. Like I said, it was down in the area of my peeps so it was really just a quick pop over while chilling at my sisters house. I mentioned to Lady MaKaella that I want to come back and play sometime and I think we just may be making that work come real soon.
